I went to a Christmas in July trunk show today and this bag/purse was demoed. It's amazingly simple, can't get any easier, great gift! I'm making one tonight.

Scroll almost to the bottom of the page for Jiffy Totes.

Amazes me how expensive the patterns are for handbags, when most of them are just versions of rectangles or squares. I make my own patterns, based on the size I want. After all we are fabric artists and designers in our own way. I play around with tissue paper till I get the basic measurements I want and go from there. I would rather save that money to buy the fabric.

I made the red Serentity bag from that site with the texture bag on the upper flap. It was great fun to do. I don't normally sew other than quilts.

I buy a purse pattern when I think it is a cleaver new method of construction. The method was showed at the demo and even though I could probably do it by memory the idea was worth the pattern price to me.

I think this might be a free pattern. I looked up Jiffy Tote in a search and got a pdf from Pearl Louise Designs and it is the same fabric requirements. I hope someone else will check this out and let us all know. Better than the $7.50 for the pattern.

Thank you. I got the pattern for Carol's convertible purse last year and made it with my girlfriend which helped to understand the directions.
