Incredible antique quilt on E-bay

Take a look at this quilt, make sure you look at some of the pic's of the individual pieces. 25,000 DIAMONDS!!! I am in awe of whomever pieced this quilt!!!! This is just incredible.

Oh my goodness, can you imagine the time that went into that? Maybe it was a quilting bee quilt?

Tartan 02-23-2013 02:45 PM

....and did you notice it is lovingly put up with what looks like......PUSH PINS! Good grief I hope someone rescues it but at price, I don't think so.

Lori S 02-23-2013 02:58 PM

That is an amazing quilt. It will be interesting to see if it sells at that price.

beckyboo1 02-23-2013 03:55 PM

I cringe at those push pins...can't believe anyone would do that especially to such an old and fragile quilt! Looks like they may have this quilt awhile, the listing says Jan 14th.

owlvamp 02-23-2013 03:59 PM

Someone with tons of dollars can afford to rescue it. It is beautiful!!!

Quite the quilt ... imagine the stories it could tell

Now here's your "chuckle" for the night ... when I read diamonds, yes I thought diamonds!
After all, they do add crystals to quilts now ... so why not diamonds? :D

Glenda m 02-24-2013 05:51 AM

I think it's from Ca. They mention it often enough. LOL

For that price, they should be real diamonds! Wonder how and why they came up with that price? They kept referring to the fact that it was from California, so guess that justifies the price.

sewbizgirl 02-24-2013 09:21 AM

Lots of work but I doubt it will sell. It's priced about ten time more than it's actually worth.

linda faye 02-24-2013 09:44 AM

That quilt is absolutely positively amazing! I can not imagine the time that went into making this 25,000 beauty. How I would love to know the story behind it and something about the 'artist'.

caspharm 02-24-2013 10:46 AM

It is an amazing looking quilt, but I don't know about the price. :)

gabeway 02-24-2013 01:53 PM

It is amazing.

hheelleenn 02-24-2013 02:08 PM

I wonder if the person who made that, had sight after that, and how good was it?

So did I. I was looking for the crystals on the quilt. Remember the 2012 Houston best of show winner? America, let it shine. It has crystals in it.

What an incredible quilt! I would love to know the story, too... I imagine a Conestoga wagon, with a bored and lonely woman piecing her way across the country on her way to California. Not much else to on that trip. This quilt is a perfect example of the old adage, "If the fabric is too ugly, it just isn't cut small enough". No ugly fabric in that quilt!

Cogito 02-25-2013 07:12 AM

Wow Sue! Thank you so much for sharing this! What a beautiful example of a passionate quilter from back before we had all of our beloved quilting trinkets of today! I wish I could afford it. Someone mentioned it was priced 10 times it's value but I don't think so. I do think it is priced too high, but it is probably worth at least $1500. I buy a lot of antique quilts and have never seen one quite like this. Lovely. :) Interesting that it was made in California but currently resides in Lancaster PA. I just hope the current owner didn't weasel it away from a family for a little money to turn around and offer it for $$$$$$. I always feel sad when I see quilts like this leave a family. Isn't there SOMEONE in that family-even extended- that would value it and pass it down? Sigh, my quilting and genealogy passions combining!

I appreciate the work that went into this quilt, but I have a problem with dizziness when it comes to the tiny pieces.

lbc 02-25-2013 08:54 AM

I agree that a lot of work was put into this quilt. I didn't see any bids.

mjhaess 02-26-2013 12:38 PM

Wow...That is beautiful.....

Mariposa 02-26-2013 12:45 PM

Wow! Lots of work in this beauty! Too bad the current owner doesn't treat it well. Push pins-? Come on now......

Dottie Bug 02-26-2013 11:19 PM

hperttula123 03-03-2013 07:33 PM

If you click on History and then buyers it shows that it had been bid on before but the seller must have taken it back off because both of them showed it had expired. It'd be nice to see what was offered. Way to high for my blood. I've seen the whole antique bed cost less than that.
