Interesting - Quilting Quickly magazine is still being published...
... but apparently it's no longer associated with Jenny Doan and/or Missouri Star.
I guess Fons & Porter decided to keep the magazine and the name that's associated with Jenny's input. I haven't seen it in person, just on F&P's website. They have both paper and digital editions available: http://www.shopfonsandporter.com/cat...gazine-issues/ Looks like somehow it's now associated with Keepsake Quilting - at least, they are going to sell the kits for all of the projects in the magazine. I know it's been mentioned on this Board before that Jenny wasn't involved with this magazine any longer. Just giving a heads-up to everyone. I'm looking forward to checking out the "new" magazine anyway, just to see what the projects are like. |
Thanks for the information.

I saw that too - I was surprised to see it - I am curious about the magazine - I loved it when Jenny was doing it - I am hoping that they continue with the same kind of projects.
Thought on Craftsy that Jenny had two books on Quilting Quickly. Love Jenny Doan... she makes everything look so easy
Wonder if the " new" one will be on newsstands soon......F&P is certainly growing into a huge conglomerate.......
I also wonder if it will be as good as it was in the past when Jenny Doan was associated with it -- she has a knack for coming up with fun projects and new ways to do things. Love her 'folksy' videos, too. We'll see....
Keepsake makes all the quilt kits sold for many magazines... Fons and Porter, McCalls .. just to name a few. It's done in a separate location from the retail shop.
I've heard that Keepsake was up for sale and that it was purchased by Fons and Porter.
I bought a copy of the latest "Quilting Quickly" at Joann's late last week. It certainly has a different look to it. I have not spent much time with it to give it any kind of evaluation - but one pattern caught my eye, so I bought the magazine. I will miss the "flavor" Jenny gave to the past magazines.
See that Liz's name is again associated with everything....thought she retired (???) I always liked the calming effect she had on the show.

I had emailed Jenny and asked if she was going to continue with the magazine and she said there would be "big news" coming the first of the year. Well it's almost February and no news yet. Anyone have any info on what her news might be?
No, but wouldn't it be great if Jenny, aka MSQC, put out their own magazine!! I would stand in line for that one, and maybe even camp out on the street!! Love my Jenny!!!
Ditto here. I love Jenny, too. She makes everything seem so easy and interesting and she's always just full of cheer.
Guess F & P couldn't stand the fact that Jenny was so popular. Love her tutorials and the magazine and love her personality.
When I saw it on the F&P website, I immediately noted that Jenny and MSQCo were not on the cover. I looked for it at Hobby Lobby but they did not have it stocked yet.
I e-mailed Missouri Star Quilting Company. They said to watch Facebook or your e-mail for the name of the new magazine.
Yes, Jenny hinted last year that there just might be a new mag. in sight involving herself, but nothing definite. I think she is going to put one out, not connected to F&P.
Also interesting that Liz has been resurrected lately. Maybe they finally came to the conclusion that she was really missed and needed on the show. |
I had seriously considered subscribing to this magazine, but have still been picking up copies at Walmart. Wouldn't subscribers have been notified of this change? It would be a deal breaker for me. I haven't been too excited about recent F and P issues and was not going to renew. It seems stale to me with nothing new and exciting.
I love Jenny's video tutorials - she is like having s happy neighbor next door - and everything is broken down to such "easy" and "fun" chunks to accomplish. Love her style. :-)

I too like Jenny's way.... Love her tutes on you tube..but I am afraid that one day, somehow, they will no longer be there and free........not being a computer genus, is there a way they can be put on a flash drive or some other way of archiving/saving them?
Just looked at Quilting Quickly in the supermarket on my lunch hour. Not impressed since Jenny Doan is not involved, and put it back on the rack.
I have been disappointed in the past few issues of Quilting Quickly. My morning paper has more pages in it than the magazine.

I also noticed that f&p had taken over the mag. and feel that its gotten more about the bottom dollar with them, rarely is anything free with them, example patterns. I hope jenny comes out with her own magazine. she is such an inspiration for me being a new quilter.
Thanks for the heads up. I had noticed it was not on the Missouri Quilt site and only on the F & P site. I thought they were just slow in getting it. I didn't know about the change. Now with the change, it will just be another quilting magazine I enjoy looking through. I'll save my money for fabric instead.
If anybody sees a new magazine Jenny is involved in, please do a shout out. [/I] |
I finally got a chance to look at the magazine in person yesterday. To me, it looked like a bunch of patterns I've seen before... standard stuff... nothing innovative or different. It just didn't "grab" me enough to spend the $9.99 on the magazine, like it did when Jenny was involved. Which is fine, since I've put myself on an austerity program this year. :( Sewing stuff "rehab", you might say!
I saw the next QQ Spring ? issue the other day ... and I didn't buy it either. Just not the same without Jenny. Fons and Porter continue to publish it ... apparently Jenny & MSQC decided to bring out a new quilt magazine of their own. No surprise there !
Should be great, just like her, and her fun teaching style. Figured that was on the horizon when we heard the news last fall about her departure ... |
