I love how easy this looks. I have a lot of scraps that I am going to use for one of these type quilts. Thanks for sharing.

Needed a new pattern for the 15th Quilts for kids I am making this month.. Starting today.. I do think that
newspaper was used in the "olden days" lol

The string quilting isn't new, I learned to sew at the age of 6 doing these for my mom, as long as they were big enough to seam together it was used to make our quilts. I still sew strips together to make scrap quilt blocks.

Love this - the papers would really simplify it.

I just ordered the foundation paper from her. Only $10.00 for around 250 pieces. Free shipping. How wonderful is that.

The first big quilt I did was a string quilt. My mentor recommended using muslin for the foundation. This can be from anything--even an old sheet with holes in it. Don't have the bother of taking the paper out and it also adds another layer of "batting". Might be a good solution for a summer quilt that doesn't need the thermal effect of regular batting??

Does anyone know what kind of iron she is using in the tutorial? Is it shutting itself off when it raises up & what makes it raise up?

And did you see that cute fabric carrot tutorial that she did also? It's too late for Easter of this year but maybe for next year? I can just see a basket full of them on the table.
