Jenny Doan's new tutorial is the easiest, fastest yet

Jenny's tute is called 'Silly Goose Quilt Tutorial' on YouTube. You've got to see it. You could make a quilt in two hours or less. It's pretty cool.

AFQSinc 08-30-2013 09:33 AM

I saw the tute. It looks so cute. I have two civil war repro charm packs that I've been looking for a project for. I might think about this one. I think the repros would be pretty with a nice creamy white. Hmmm. I might have to check the Missouri Star site and see what charm packs she has that might work.

quiltsRfun 08-30-2013 09:47 AM

I love it! So easy! I need to dig out some of my charm packs for this one.

DOTTYMO 08-30-2013 10:33 AM

Wow so easy and I have a charm pack sitting waiting but where is background ? Need to go hunting.

quiltsRfun 08-30-2013 10:34 AM

Someone on the M*QS site suggested using scraps. Why didn't I think of that?

vondae 08-30-2013 11:14 AM

Isn't she the greatest? I've said it before but, she is my hero. They are so talented at MSQC. This is a great quilt.

dhanke 08-30-2013 12:35 PM

This would be a great leaders and enders project. I could have two tops made at the same time!

I took a minute to watch and this is very cute and so simple. She and her team are very creative.

Thanks for sharing this tid bit.
peace

How do you think it would look using the pattern charm with solid geese?

Belfrybat 08-30-2013 02:10 PM

Wow. That is incredibly easy. I have a couple of charm packs I got in a swap that I've been wondering what to do with them. Just need to find a neutral background, and I think this will be a project for the upcoming quilt retreat I'm attending.

Evelynquilts 08-31-2013 01:30 AM

I was looking for a pattern to use my scraps...I think this is it :)

owlvamp 08-31-2013 02:03 AM

mandyrose 08-31-2013 03:40 AM

IrishgalfromNJ 08-31-2013 04:04 AM

Love Jenny Doan. That quilt pattern is so clever. I have it booked marked. That may be the baby quilt I need to make for my boss. Thank you for the information.

Here you go.

Jenny cuts a charm into 2.5 squares...if you already have a bunch of 2.5 squares, all you need are your solid 5 inch blocks.

Thanks for the information - never noticed that even though it is easy to see.

ann clare 08-31-2013 03:31 PM

Love all her tutorials.

zennia 09-01-2013 03:31 AM

Thank You. I have so many scraps lying around. I like to make quilts for nursing homes. This is a great pattern for both.

It would look great! Why not reverse them? I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Woodster 09-01-2013 04:20 AM

I'm in the process of giving this tute a try!! My mother has been wanting a FG table runner - I'll post a photo when I finish it!! Just need to get to the store for a background........

canuckninepatch 09-01-2013 04:56 AM

I fell in love with this tute as well. I have already planned to make a Prayers and Squares quilt using 2 1/2" squares of all sorts of scraps, and a plain white background. I know they want to sell their charm packs, but using scraps would work just as well, and would look fabulous!

alikat110 09-01-2013 06:45 AM

That was fabulous....I have tons of 2" sqs...

Marysewfun 09-01-2013 07:33 AM

That looks like fun and useful in putting scraps to good use - I got the notice from MSQ about the video but was busy and said I would look at it later - - - hmmmm - - - - - anyway this is neat. They are always coming up with such neat and "fun" tutorials. Thanks for bringing this up.

Haven't seen it but I will....Thanks..

purplefiend 09-01-2013 06:40 PM

I've been sewing flying geese that way for years, I learned it in a quilting class.

brunswickgirl 09-01-2013 06:46 PM

Just watched it...I think I will give it a try.

My time 09-02-2013 06:24 AM

I have never seen this method before. Is it ever cute. Thanks for sharing.

craftymatt2 09-02-2013 02:07 PM

I am impressed, she makes everything look soooo easy, i will bookmark for later, but i do see something in red, my favorite color.

nwm50 09-03-2013 10:26 AM

I saw this and fell in love with it then instead of cutting up a charm pack into 2 1/2"....use a jelly roll instead! Just turned it sideways on my go! Cutter and it cuts multiply blocks that I needed for this project. Next thing I need to do is get off this board and get busy sewing! Lol

Maureen 09-03-2013 11:28 AM

I have several mini charm packs that I am going to use for this one. No cutting charms in quarters for me.
