Karen Kay Buckley ruler

Does anyone have this ruler? if so how do you like
it?

Karen Kay Buckley ruler

Soon as I saw this ruler and KNEW that I wanted it. Hubs
said I didn't NEED it because I already have about
2 of every ruler size from 4" to 12-1/2". He also said
the cost was too much. But I told him I could save OVER
$13 if I am a member of the AQS.

This is how I explained my "logic" to him:
1) This ruler is ALL the sizes he said I had rolled into 1
ruler.

2) If I had known about this ruler years ago (not sure when
this ruler came out) I could have SAVED myself a lot of money
instead of buying the rulers.

3) I would be able to FIND the right size with this ruler instead
of trying to hunt and find the pesky 6 inch ruler I had last time
I used it which I can't remember when that was.

4) I just want it! it is a new (at least to me) fandango QUILTING
ruler therefore I MUST get it.

He just shook his head, and laughed at me than said" silly girl".
I THINK that might mean I am getting this ruler for Christmas
or my birthday next year.

I've never seen this ruler. How much is it? Looks pretty neat, but it seems a little t the complicated.

Not going to be on my list anytime soon at the $69.95. I have a square up ruler already. And I certainly don't want to have to take a hammer to it. JMO!

I have a large 15 inch square so I wouldn't be interested and I also would be afraid of the little teeth breaking off.

OH!no not for me I can feel my thumbs screaming pushing them together I would need the hammer(another expense) and then she mentioned some kind of tape(hugo tape?) I'm sure I break it taking it apart I noticed the ruler larger at the end or was it just me? do they give you all the pieces to make it that big I doubt it,probably have to buy the different sizes.

Quilty-Louise 08-19-2014 08:52 AM

ALL the pieces you need to make it a 24" square is included.
So is the Amazing Hugo Tape (I already have a 1" wide roll of it).

When I rejoin the AQS (American Quilter's Society) I will be saving
$13.99 on the cost.

For me it gives me all the sizes I normally use within 1 ruler I like that
part. As for the hammer. easily obtained online at a cheaper cost.

Wow. love this ruler. Have never heard of it before. It is pricey ($69.99) so I will keep a lookout for a sale.

My quilt friend bought it from Connecting Threads and we played around with it. It was very easy to use. I have one ordered. I don't understand why the need to discuss buying a quilt ruler with DH though. LOL

I do the string thing with a piece of waxed paper (grease proof for the Aussies :)
folded in 1/8's to have lines to follow for placing applique. To do that with this ruler the string would also have to cross at the halves.
I guess if you were only going to make, was it 22" or 24" blocks and you didn't have any other rulers it would be ok but any ruler you can only use for one thing seems silly to me. I mean, you wouldn't use it to cut strips. It doesn't look like you can leave out sections to make the ruler smaller.

I have both sets of her perfect circles, and I've heard her scissors praised to the roof. But this ruler. Not for me, and who keeps their rulers in a box? Mine hang on the wall for quick access.
