I know some of us struggle with the 1/4 inch measurement so I thought this video might help some newbies achieve the perfect 1/4 seam

I use painter tape too. If I want a scant 1/4" seam, I just move my needle over one or two notches.

The tip for using the index card to "save" the scant 1/4" mark is a great idea. I use the tape but never thought to have a marker for placement. My quilting just got better. TFS

Bless you! I have and use a 1/4-inch foot at home, but our quilting group doesn't have any. Great idea to use the reference card!

In the quilting world my idea may seam " sacreligeous", but I just used a sharpie to draw the line on my machine, so it is there when I need it. I just grab the ruler and re-mark it occasionally as needed. I do make a thick line so I can just let the edges ride along the needle side of the line (I have an aversion to dealing with anything sticky). My machine, my "fix", but it works for me.

I found at Walmart furniture felt pads. They are 8 to a pack and self sticking. I got 1" by 2" by half inch high. They work great.

I have a Singer, not expensive but it has been a work horse. I use Moleskin as a guide for the quarter inch and it works fine. When I take it off, there is no residue on the machine. I do have to move the needle, however. But it works.
