Leah Day switched to Juki TL2010Q!
 

Wow! Leah Day came full circle and has switched back to Juki. The YouTube link below explains her reasons. I think her progression was Juki 98-Janome Horizon 7700-8900-Juki TL2010Q.

sounds like more of a chair problem than a machine problem.

Just proves one size doesn't fit all. Just because my taller friend has a certain machine doesn't mean it will be comfortable for me. It's really a personal thing.

I always wondered why she didn't liked her Juki Tl-98. I have one and can't part with it even after getting a midarm on a frame. Seems she was using the wrong bobbin and it affected the stitch quality. There is something to learn from this: there is a lot of small details that can make the difference between loving or hating the same machine.

Not really. I have the same Juki. My other machine is a Viking Sapphire and I understand exactly what she means. The Viking is very bulky around the needle and at the top of the harp compared to how narrow the Juki is in those areas. You can see further back behind the needle of the Juki without hunching over. If you put your chair too low so you can see more behind the needle, then the shoulders hurt after a short time.

I saw a Juki 2200 at the LQS and fell in love ! It costs 10K with checkups, repair, frame. Too much $$ for me.

Very interesting. I have the Janome 7700 and have never been in love with it. I have said many times that if I had it to do over, I would get the Juki. At the time I made the purchase I was very new to quilting and was lured by that big harp space on the Janome. Lesson learned.

I sold my 7700 on cl. Perhaps you could do the same.

Has she ever tried quilting on a longarm.........watched the video and it seems her needs would be better satisfied with a longarm instead of a DM...and if the price of that Juki is actually 10K as someone mentioned, she could have gotten a l/a or a mid arm! She sounds like a good commercial for the machine she now has!!! Jmho

I have a task chair on casters, I can adjust the height to fit the machine. Sometimes I get a hitch in my get-a-long on the left side or right side so I use a step stool to prop up my leg. My little niece loves to sit at the coffee table and sew and watch tv. She sits cross legged. So funny, she just moves the pedal under her knee when she starts the machine. 10 years old. She takes her machine everywhere. Her mother asked her the other day if she wanted a new machine for Christmas. She said no because she knows 3 other people with atleast 2-3 machines. She had her mother order some Craftsy tutes. She has been all over the YouTube videos. She would like to have different gift cards so she can get notions at the different sewing depts. This kid is something else at 10 years old. She has a definite can do attitude.
