Local Quilt Store closing

:(:(:( So Several years ago, the owner got cancer. With many ups and downs to her recovery, her friends and people who want the store have been pitching in to keep the store open. After several years, there's not a future back to work hope. So she tried to sell it. Now it's closing. She has received lots of local support. It was also a tourist stop. We'll miss the quilt store and also the only local source of sewing supplies. It's 1 hr drive one way.

Last ditch effort; anyone interested?

I daydream frequently of owning or working in a quilt shop. Where is this one located?

Unless you offer classes or long arm services, a small local quilt shop will have a very difficult time surviving. They can not buy in quantity so they have to charge such a high price for their fabric and most folks won't pay it. Sad but true.

You are all so right. I live in a suburb of Chicago and one by one all of the quilt shops around me are closing. Some because the owner wants to retire but mostly it is a financial thing. Makes it really difficult when you feel like browsing
and getting new ideas. Unfortunately going to the same quilt shop to get inspiration does not work. One reason I enjoy the Quilt Board.
