Log Cabin Chip Quilt

When I first started watching this video, I thought it was gonna be ugly, but it turned out surprisingly pretty! One of these days I will try this.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ObRuUkICNA

I've seen this block before called "Potato Chip" block. You would never think that it would look so good when all the blocks are sewn together but it really is pretty. And what a grand way to use up the never ending scrap pile. Or at least put a dent in the pile:-)

This looks great for some scrap busting. Thanks for sharing the link!

I have been following "Brenda at Conquering Mount Scrapmore" for about a year now and have made more than one Potato Chip quilt. Her videos are lighthearted and the common everyday mistakes are left in so we can see how she corrects her oopses. I usually check on on Friday mornings for her "Free Block Friday" presentation.

The potato chip block is just as easy as the presenter in the link indicates. If you like to play with your scraps this is a nice way to mindlessly put them use or lay them out in lights/darks in a log cabin style. Scrappy of course! And an easy to make donation quilt. Great leader/ender project and a good way to diminish the scrap bin.

Am I the only one who finds those nails distracting??

The potato chip block has many variations, it's pretty amazing how people have laid it out and come up with such different looks - and the only size cut is the 2.5 x 4.5 (or 2 x 3.5).

Brenda, who coined the name "Potato Chip Block", is fun to follow. Her videos are fairly short and she shows a free block pattern every Friday.
