Magnetic pin holders and stuff

I'm always looking for fun stuff to use in my sewing room.
I love decorative tins like these:

but this magnetic pin holder is so cute! It's a bit pricey, but cute. And, the pins are all stay pointy side down...no more poking. And I can close it up so fewer pins spill out when I drop it.

GMTA ... I'm a total suck when it comes to decorative tins and fancy boxes.

The pin holder box could be created with a tin box.
The trick would be to find one that's the right depth for the pins to be on end.
Then a good magnet in the bottom to hold them in place.

Might just have to do that myself!

Yes QuiltE I've done that. And I made a small pin keeper / bobbin keeper / sewing kit thing out of an old metal lunch box I found at a yard sale. so fun.

We definitely are of the same minds!!
Best magnets for me ... cow magnets.
While I don't have a stand up box (yet!), I do have several metal boxes with magnets
where I just chuck the pins in and let the magnet grab hold.

I recently found these adhesive, magnetic sheets. They work great on the bottom of tins, etc. They stick well, and don't add bulk to the bottom of things, so those things sit flat on the table. And they are easy to custom cut to any size.
I have used them in all sorts of places. Even glued a pic of the grandkids to a custom cut rectangle to put on the refridgerator.

I have a box of 100 magnets for business cards. Just the right size. I never really thought about using these to line a box or small tin (which I have several of) to make a pin catcher. I have 2 magnet pin cushions and the pins lay flat against the bottom. The magnets are mounted on the underside of the plastic surface.. A couple new thought I think I can make use of. Look what happens when you put a group of quilters together and see what light bulbs go on!
