Lilrain 04-11-2011 01:13 PM

so glad you posted a link to this, I think it is great, especially for those who do not own a serger to finish the edges

GrammaBabs 04-11-2011 01:16 PM

we call them "hot dog" pillowcases... cause' the rolled fabric is like it's stuffed in a roll!!!

I've made these and put names on the border for kids....

DMotyl 04-11-2011 02:59 PM

Thanks for the great link...I think that EVEN I can do that!! LOL!

texpat45 04-12-2011 06:06 AM

I've used this method for a few years making pillowcases for my grandchildren for BDs, holidays, or just because! Very easy and fast! Funny, I've never made any for myself!

joyce888 04-12-2011 06:19 AM

One thing I would like to add to this is: I always think of a pillowcase as the border being the bottom of the case and the body being the top. If you're using directional fabric either in the body or border have the fabric upside down when facing you.

reginalovesfabric 04-12-2011 07:26 AM

I made 50 for the million pillowcase challenge on the web, I have a serger so I didn't do the french seam. I have started making ones for each holiday...too cute

chicagoshar 04-12-2011 08:07 AM

Me, too. I've been teaching this as part of my "Beginning Sewing" class for the past few years, as it gives my students a finished project after the second class. They love it and can't believe they've already made something that looks good!
I also have been making these for bridal shower gifts - make a set for 4 major holidays - Christmas, Easter, 4th of July and either Halloween or Thanksgiving. My grandnieces just love them!

http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/quarte...nge/pillowcase
tubemethod.pdf
not sure why it doesn't put the tubemethod.pdf in as part of the web site but it is needed
