It pulls the thread through the needle sideways. It ends up threading the needle from left to right.

This is not an embroidery machine this is a PQ, or piecing and quilting machine. It has a large throat area for making much room for rolled up quilts. It is strictly a straight stitch machine and I can't say enough good things about it. It can stitch 1500 stitches a minute if you want to fly.

Thank you for the clarification. I did not know they made home machines that went that fast. My first machine was an old industrial White Rotary from the old Montgomery Wards factory in Portland, OR, that went that fast. Forward and back only, I miss it.
