The Virginia Quilter has some black sateen, 118" wide for $12/yard...if I decide to use that I would need 2.5 yards...right?

I'm not sure I'm going to get it, just checking it out.

Ok, I ordered 3.5 yards of the black as it seemed the best deal. I just did a quick survey of my blues...I really need to use them for this project, LOL.

Wow, beautiful fabrics! Mine is more scrappy but not too scrappy (if that makes any sense) Where did you buy the RinsAway from?

Thanks. I ended up ordering the RinsAway through Amazon, their supplier is Craft World. I got 10 one yard packages of it, so I'm set for a while. AND, the best part - I ironed it, cut it into 8.5 x 11 sheets and ran it through my inkjet printer for the templates with absolutely no problem - went through even easier than the fusible/HeatNBond.

Hope start cutting stuff out tomorrow. I can't wait to see everybody's variations on this.

How's everybody doing?

I have been working on my first block. I'm very satisfied so far. It's a painstaking process, but hopefully well worth it. I'm hoping to have it done by this time next week.

I haven't even started this one yet, but I did finish the other 2 BOM's (house and star) today, I still need to go buy the fabric for this one.

I have the applique fused onto the block. I just need to sew it down. I keep going back and forth on whether to use a clear poly or neutral colored thread.
I also just got a new "old" singer 403A so I've been playing with that.

still waiting for my fabric to come in.

Here's a pic of the block ready to be sewn. Nothing is positioned exactly right as I've just finished assembling the "units" and laid them on the background to get an idea of how it looks. I wanted a pic now in case something disasterous happens in the next couple steps (sewing in place and washing). I'll hopefully begin sewing tomorrow. This was a LOT of work!

I should have added that the edges are all turned under and I'm not fusing it to the background. The idea is that once its washed it'll give a close look and feel to hand applique.

I've got my pieces all cut and fused together, just waiting for my black to arrive in the mail. I'm finding this a very relaxing project. Looking forward to machine stitching mine.
