New, fun way to label & document your quilts

I was checking the products offered on Massdrop (learned about it here and got a fabulous deal on my Tutto sewing machine carrier!) and came across something new, to me at least, and thought others might be interested. The link below is just a tutorial about how to use Storybook Patches, you can go to Massdrop or your favorite vendor to check availability and prices. Storybook Patches are quilt labels that come plain or decorative with a QR code that is unique to the quilt the label is attached to, and allows you to include a video, audio, text or document message along with what you include on the physical label. You can even change the message, for example a new message each year for a birthday, wedding or anniversary quilt. The tutorial is very easy to understand and follow, short and informative. Love this new way to blend traditional labeling with technology!

What a great idea! You will live on through your quilt!

Great technology but will it be usable in the future? My IT guy says not to transfer my movies to DVD because it will be obsolete soon????? I prefer the old fashioned hand embroidery

I was wondering the same thing about it becoming obsolete. Very cool idea other than that.

What a cool idea! I'm sure some "techie person" in the future will be able to figure out the technology, if needed.

Hands on technology such as phones, DVDs etc, and online technology are very different. A QR code is a readable link, and adaptable because of that. For example your online classes, such as Craftsy, aren't going to cease to exist because the hands on technology you use to access it does. It's a streaming format that can be adapted. Not a technological explanation, but I hope it still makes sense
