The ridge will keep one layer just as steady. The height of the ridges determines the amount of fabric it can hold which seems to be up to ten layers. I was looking at the video and my DD said that's neat and it's cheap too. LOL I use to say but Mom it's only a dollar, my kids would say but Mom it's only $20. Now my grands say but Mom it's only $50.

You can use the binder ruler for the same type of cutting, it is only 8 in, but you can measure down on the strips, It only costs in the 8-10 range. You can find it on ebay.

I have the shape cutter by June Tailor and I have a ruler with 45 angle. Saving my money. For others their choice. Not for me.

I'd rather spend my money on Deb Tucker's Hunter's star and I'm still debating that one.

I think most are missing the purpose of this ruler. It's not to cut 2 1/2 strips.

For me, most of the time I'm sewing teh 2.5" strips together and then cutting them cross wise. They say it will cut diamonds, but did not show that. I think it needs another insert (the red part) that has the matching angle as the 45 deg end, so you could work your way down the strip and get even cuts (parallelograms). For me, the best part is getting uniform lengths without having to be so careful I've got the ruler lined up correctly. |
Looks interesting....

I will have to keep it in mind if I start using a lot of 2 1/2" strips but I just bought the Shape Cut Plus ruler and that gives me the ability to cut the 2 1/2" strips to start with.

I use the June Tailor shape cutter. It will also do the 2 1/2 inch stripes and then I turn it the other way to make squares. I prefer not to cut more then 4 - 6 layers as I need to put pressure on the cutter. It looks like I'll bypass this one.
