hi Ruth, happy to hear you like this site. When I seen kaye use the star maker 6 on her show, she was instructing how to make hexagons, to make the grandmother's flower garden, well i had to get it. When i first seen the grandmother's flower garden in a quilt magazine, i just fell in love with it and wanted to learn how to make it. But in the quilt magazine it said and showed how to make these templates and then you had to sew your material around these templates. After you sewed around templates and then connected the hexagons together, you would pop out the templates. I thought wow that alot of little hexagon templates to make. But with kaye's star maker 6 ruler, theres no templates to make. This is how she showed how to cut them. Lets say you wanted a 2" hexagon, you'd cut a strip of material 3in. wide this includes your seam allowance. Then you would fold your material in half, place your ruler on the material and you set it till you see how big you want your hexagon to be,by the lines on the ruler, then just cut on each side of the ruler. Take the ruler off and open your folded material and there you have a perfect hexagon. Whatever size you want your hexagon to be would be the width of the strip of material you cut. I hope you can make sense with what i'm saying lol sorry i'm really not good at writing down instructions, i do better with showing how. Any how it is very quick and simple to cut out all your hexagons with this ruler. Denise.
