this is a wonderful 3D woven photo technique. i plan on doing this for ours friends for christmas

i don't know if its meant to keep things from fading. i do think sepia prints hold up better since its muted tone to begin with.

what i love is the weaving effect and how it looks.

basically use cut the fabric photo into thin strips leaving the faces in tact.

then you take the beautiful fancy threads on the market today and do a basket weave thru the photo print.

then you use fusible web on the back to seal everything down and it won't unravel.

then you can either finish it off and make like a fabric photo to be framed or you could make an entire quilt using the photos as the blocks.

I watched Carol Ingram demonstrate how to do this on one of Sue Hauseman's tv shows. If I remember correctly she chose the sepia tone because it is more muted and worked better for this project. Thanks for posting this, I had forgotten all about it!!! :D :D :D
