New Year's Mystery Quilt Posted!

The fabric and cutting instructions for the New Year's Day, Merry Mayhem's Case #126, "In the Pink," are now posted at Planet Patchwork. Im ready, well almost I still need to mark the angles on the squares but will do that today. This is the fabric I choose. Can't wait to see what it will look like. Its not easy to deside on fab when you have no idea what it will look like I hope I choose right. the scanner made fab look alitte funny but gives you an idea the pink is a print and the teal is a batik

I'm almost ready! Got my strips all cut only need to make squares out of a few more. We're gonna have some fun on New Year's Day! I can hardly wait to see all the different ways the same directions turn us. :lol:

Hi, have got my act together and got my fabrics sorted. I am doing a scrap one, cause I don't have 2 yards of anything lol. The strips right across the width are a bit of a problem, am gonna cut 21" strips (width of fat quarter) I spect they will be used in strip piecing but if I have to join em, so be it, where there's a will and all that :P .

Am really looking forward to seeing everyones interpretation. Yvonne, you and Connie inspired me to have a go in chat yesterday. I feel so much betta now I'm doing something, thanks so much for that :D . You said Marcella is doing it too, Should be alot of fun. Sara: I'm not sure how well their chat is gonna work for me cause when I tested it as reccommended my putter wasn't very happy, but I will be there even if you can't see me lol :lol: I will be starting at 4 in the morning, just think of that lol :shock: . so it's early bed tonight.

Are we going to put them all in the same thread? I think that would be a nice idea, Can't wait to see everyones tops

Shelly, Marcella and I were just saying how enthusiasticly we are looking forward to this project tomorrow. We needed something new and a new experience (never have done a mystery before) so it's a good way to spend a New Years Day!

I agree that we should post our pics together. It's fun to see how they are the same and can turn out so very different. If you're using your scraps I am betting it's going to be a beautiful bright and cheery quilt! Connie has given us a preview of her quilt. It's going to be a beauty!

I'm already behind! I had to unsew two seams since I picked the wrong light fabric piece. :( Off to try and catch up. I need sleep! Shelly, how are you doing?

part 7 is it. I had to stop because of dad I'll try and finish more later. I printed out all the instructions in case i don't get right back to it

Still workin' on step 4... all those half-square triangles!!! Yvonne points out that we can't get any further behind now that step 8, the final chapter, has been posted!

gee feathers I didn't realize that was you. I'm behind again I got the half squares sewn together then realized that about half were sewn right to wrong side this quilt in a day project may become quilt in a month lol

But I am enjoying it.

I quit! for today! My back has said "Enough!" So it shall be. I have my half squares done. Connie, I feel your pain with ripping. I started out this morning sewing the wrong two pieces together and ripped it all out only to sew it all back in the next step. Grrr!

I'm building the pseudo 9-patches. I did manage to put ONE block together. It doesn't look like much all alone but I'm hopeful that a gaggle of them together will make them look wonderful. I've sewn more today than I usually sew in a whole week!

Ceanna: I couldn't get on as Feathers so I changed the name to see if that would work. I got an error message that my name was already used and that I didn't have enough letters in the password. Poop, I took the easy way out.

It was exhausting, but fun. And a bit of a surprise. One did suspect half-square triangles were on the menu, of course, but one couldn't be sure... anyhow, I jumped ahead and made one block too. Just to see.

Good Job, Marcella. I have some blocks made, also. Not as pretty as yours but then I always like our red, white and blue in anything.

Looking Great Marcella :thumbup: , can't wait to see everyones tops. I am soooo tired it is now 8.50 pm and I'm gonna crawl off to bed shortly. I was really trying to get there but there is no way I can sew this in a day. I have been at the machine too long and am just making all kinds of cobbly wobbles now lol :lol: . I've had a great day tho. Here is a pic of one of my blocks, all scrap, so it is a bit different lol

I hope you got a good night's rest Shelly. I was in bed by 9:30 last night. I figure we put in over an 8 hour day and I'm retired. I don't do 8 hour days any more!!! :shock: Not that intense anyway! I did put together one block before I 'died' yesterday. Here it is. I have to do some running around this morning but I'll be back at it soon.

Here is one of my new Year Mystery quilt blocks. I have several but they aren't all sewn together yet. I have been trying different layouts to see what I'll like best. Still undecided.
