newfangled sewing machine

I don't think I'd buy this, too many what-ifs and unknowns, but I'm fascinated at how far someone was thinking outside the box.

fun reading the article.

BellaBoo 08-16-2012 09:05 AM

I'd love that!

Treasureit 08-16-2012 09:14 AM

That is so different! I am curious if it catches on.

It's as good as the one posted by Bellaboo a while back: http://www.dezeen.com/2012/07/06/fol...new-designers/

Ok, the folding sewing machine might be worth having....but the ink transfer machine, not too sure about. Looks like it uses an ink cartridge, not sure if it would be economical.

these are so cool! i would just about bet that these are prototypes and may never go into production. they probably fulfilled someone's masters thesis in product design!

Or color-fast!

Wow, I love the look of that machine! What do you think your mother/grandmother would have said back many decades, if you had shown her one of today's electronic machines? What if you could go back and tell her you'd be having instant conversations with quilters all around the world the way we do here? Maybe it's in the future. Who knows what's ahead?

Ohhhh, very intriguing! I like how the base is all smooth to the surface so your quilt would flow smoothly through it. I can't tell by the picture if it is fitted into a heavier surface so it might be tippy?

I thought immediately of antique Willcox & Gibbs sewing machines, circa late 1800s. Here's a link to photos...

That would take a 2nd mortgage and looks like a college course would be involved also....I think I'll stick with my ''old fangled'' machines I know and love.

Caswews 08-19-2012 09:37 AM

wow !! all I gota say

I like the look of the machine, the small footprint and probably easy to move around. Not sure I would want the feature of the coloring of the thread. Seems too much to go wrong with it. I tried to find price but you had to join the group to get deals. I do not need any more places to shop, thank you. Take care.
