I purchased an Oliso iron about 1 year ago. I loved it until it stopped working (the up and down portion). I called the company and they said that I have to send $69.99 and they will send me a new one. Was disappointed over the price they gave me.

hmmm...not a smart business moved....poor customer service is a real turn off.
|
I just purchased an Oliso iron and so far I love it. Doesn't make me very happy to know about the "smart" function going out. Very bad customer relations move on their part. The company is in San Francisco and I would have thought that having folks purchase a product from the USA would be a high priority for them.

Darn, I hate hearing this. It was in my plans to get this iron soon. I'm sure lots of people have had success with them but this makes me hesitate. Might have to stick to a cheap one just in case.
I recently found a little travel iron for $5 at Goodwill that is great. Heats up very well & works better in sm. places than my reg. iron. Only prob. is that it doesn't hold much water. Oh well, still a good little iron. |
I have heard others that were not happy with length of time iron worked and customer service. If I paid $200 or so for an iron it needs to be gold plated, guess I am to old and too cheap.

On sale at Amazon for $129 today. If I wanted one that would be a great price. |
I would like one but they are still too expensive to invest in...

I have had my blue one for almost 2 years. Love it! ♡

My Oliso stopped going up & down after a year or so. I complained on Amazon where I bought it. Got no offer to replace it. I have a $10 black & Decker now that I bought a few years ago. Didn't think it would work so long but I have definitely got my money's worth out of it.

If you notice Fons & Porter use to have the Oliso but in their newest PBS programs they use I believe Reliable (could be wrong) I do know that it's not the Oliso anymore
|
I have heard that the yellow iron doesn't have all the bugs worked out yet .. But the other 2 irons are super from comments I have heard...
|
I notice that Jenny on MSQC uses the yellow one sometimes...then back to a regular iron...what's up with that I wonder??I would love to have one...but keep thinking about all the fabric I can get for that $$$...My walmart iron works just fine...

It seems like the more gimmicks/gadgetry a device has, the more that can go wrong with it.
|
I was so excited about this iron; purchased on 50% off at JoAnn's and find that it is just too heavy for me. I loved the up/down feature, however was so used to using the iron I have that sits atop it's own water (steam) tower. Ended up returning the iron. Great features, though.

I read a review on irons a while ago and it suggested for your money the best working one with the best price was bought at Wal-mart for less than $30 and it was a Black & Decker model.
Sorry I don't remember where I read it. I had a Rowenta that lasted for years ironing hubbys shirts then when I started quilting it finally gave up and I've bought two since and they don't last as long . . . .bummer. |
I am over expensive irons. Having spent over $100 twice... I will stay with my cheap one, its outlasted any of the pricey ones. IF someone has an iron with a LIFETIME guarantee I would consider the big $$ again.

Bought mine about 6 months ago..love it!
that being said I'm optimistic it will have a long life and not run into problems should it need repair. |
I also bought a Black & Decker and am very happy with it...
