Pantone 448c Opaque Couche

Pantone 448c is supposed to be an "ugly" color. Am I the only one who owns fabric in this color and actually likes it? Mine is kind of mottled, but I really see its potential:

i bet it looks great with purple/

Yep, lavenders. In fact, my fabric is mixed a little with purple. I love it!

I didn't know that there was an ugly color, how did they decide that? Looks like it could be a great neutral and work very nicely in all the Modern quilts. Then if I recall correctly I think I have a print with that as the background and then large purple flowers.

That is hilarious. The first coat I ever bought myself was exactly that color. My friends and I used to debate whether it was green, brown, or just dyed with rotten fruit. Lol!

Nothing wrong with that color. I too see potential :-)

Looks like plain ole brown to me....maybe smokers voted it the ugliest because it reminds them of the color of smoke stain.......

callen 06-11-2016 06:18 AM

I too, see potential with this colour. I do not think it is the ugliest colour in the world. I do not think there is ONE ugly colour. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder !!

ManiacQuilter2 06-11-2016 06:49 AM

I don't have any fabric of that color in my huge stash.

Maybe you need cataract surgery! I thought my suitcase was black. Turns out it is purple.
I made my first maternity dress from something near that color. I called it manure green.

Love green, but that one is to much like OD green and I spent 19 years ironing BDU's that were a pain in the hinny, so I could not take much of it.

sewbizgirl 06-11-2016 09:10 PM

It's army green. Yuck.

Sandygirl 06-12-2016 02:33 AM

Pantone...not applicable to my preferences...there us always a "new" color out there. I like this one too tho I rarely sew with darks.

Purple would be great,,

Quilty-Louise 06-13-2016 06:29 AM

That is a color that my hubs would love. For ME it is not a color
that I would be willing to work with (not without a fight)

mike'sgirl 06-14-2016 04:39 AM

Not for me either. I like brighter colors. This one looks too muddy for my taste.

peaceandjoy 06-15-2016 03:14 PM

I look it as a dark neutral. Honestly, I like it better than either of the Pantone colors of the year for this year!

Ah, no don't need cataract surgery! On my iPad screen that square is a brown as a Hershey bar!.....or something else I won't mention here!
