Great for quilting and cheap too.

The newsletter they sent me said it's mercerized cotton. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercerized_cotton Wikipedia said this is a process of treating the fabric where it no longer shrinks and is what gives it it's sheen.

Sounds like it has it's uses but not in a sewing machine. What does everyone else think?

I have used it for tying quilts, for applique, for art quilts to add texture and as embellishment, for lettering quilt labels, and for sashiko-style pieces (true sashiko thread has no lustre). I have also used it for embroidery and cross stitch, thinking about trying it for needlepoint and hardranger. It comes in five sizes (weights). No, Elizabeth, I would not put it in my sewing machine.
