Planet Patchwork Mystery for New Year's Day 2014

For those who do this mystery.
Here is the link: http://planetpatchwork.com/Case136/Case136Part1.htm

I love these New Year Day Mystery's. This year there is some prep work to do.

OK - I've bought fabric for this 2 times already- but this one is scrappy. Should I use scraps or should I convince myself that I need to go buy some fat quarters?
Anyone having a great sale on fat quarters?

Is anyone else going to do this mystery?

Sounds interesting. I may, but I'm not sure yet if I have to work.

Karen, in the prep work it says to cut so many 2 7/8 th squares and then so many 2 an 1/2 squares. Is the 2 and1/2 a mistake because you end up with all 2 and 1/2 squares? I hope you read this and what is your thoughts? thank you

I saved the link. Looks like fun but I'm not sure that I'll actually be able to do it though.

These are always lots of fun, and very manageable. The instructions are usually pretty clear, although this time I did see a post on facebook asking about them. It will be good to know for sure that we're cutting our fabric right!

I have never done a mystery quilt, but with all the scraps I have this sounds fun. have finished all my sewing for Christmas. This should keep me busy and out of trouble for a few days. Maybe------- LOL

My guess is that since the 2 7/8 squares become 2 1/2 HST, the 2 1/2 solid will somehow add into the pattern, so I'd go ahead and cut them.

I've never seen this mystery before. The directions seemed really clear and easy and if I understood correctly, you'll be finished the top in a day? That might be fun to do. I'm working on the Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice right now and there is a lot of cutting, sewing, pressing, cutting, sewing, pressing etc. Definitely not a quick mystery, so this might be a nice side track from that one.

This sounds interesting. I would like to see pictures of their previous mystery quilts. Any idea where to find them?
