Quilting Catashtrophe You Never Want to Do.

I just watched this YouTube video about a lady named Joy who accidentally marked her quilt with a Dry-Erase marker and she takes you through what she did to try to fix it. Although this is an awful situation, her drama-queen telling of the story made me laugh and cringe at the same time. She takes you through the different products she used and it made me think of the thread that was on the Board recently about ruining a king-sized quilt all she went through to get the marks off of her quilt.

It is called "Quilting catastrophe you never want to do." I tried to copy the website, but when I did it only brought you to the web page and then you have to click on the story, "quilting catastrophe you never want to do."

So, then you didn't see her later eating pretzels and drinking more tea? LOL

Well except for the possibility of a ruined quilt that was very enjoyable. Sounded like she tried the alcohol first, as a beverage! Thanks for posting.

Too funny, you may be right.

Yep, I agree Alyce. I noticed on the right of the video that was playing that she has several videos posted of working on this same quilt. Did not watch them as I could not make myself watch the first one....

Watched the whole thing, pretzels and all. I would have embroidered part of a tree branch over the spot. And I thought I was..............

She has a you tube channel where she talks about a lot of different topics. She makes a lot of her own blouses & some quilts. She also talks a lot about her friends & family. Right now she is going to get a computer for her long arm & make a bunch of quilts for children that are in the system. She does add drama on different things for sure, but once I got to know her personality, I thought she was kind of fun to watch.

I had to share my solution get rid of all markers and go with Crayola Ultra washable markers! they work great on dry erase boards and are perfect for marking fabric.

GeeGee 09-24-2016 09:01 PM

Nope! Just could not watch it past the first 2 or 3 minutes.

Thanks will do that great idea ! It is always the things you just do and think about later, then say will not do that again.

Stitchnripper, you are right; sounded like she'd already hit the 'bottle' but it was a hoot to watch her. She was calmer than I would have been if I'd don't that to one of mine. Hope it was hers and not a customers. Thanks Mac for the chuckle.

I only made it to the 25 second mark. Goodness I could never be around her very long. Such drama over a quilt mistake is not my style.

lynnie 09-26-2016 03:42 PM

drama queen,, she sounds like a hoot. I wonder what was in the cup she had??? Happy juice? Hey, maybe that's how she made the mistake in the first place. I use Rose Art washable markers. the pack is about $1.98 for 6-8 colors. don't recall at the moment. It always washes out, and the colors are great and bound to show up on anything you're doing.

I saw the same video. She can be annoying but still very informative. That's why I look at the timer bar at the bottom and try to move to where it looks like she's beginning to work.

Wow, step away from the "iced tea"! I could only handle about 45 seconds, whew, wore me out and made me dizzy.
I understand that she used the wrong markers, but really. Did the quilt police arrest her? If she walks out of the house in that state of mind and condition, the local police will arrest her for being drunk. (I am not saying she is, but she sure acts like it).
When she comes to a more stable state of mind and sees this video, I imagine she will have one of those "what was I thinking" moment. Unless that is her normal state!
