quilting table from bookcases

They made this table with Ikea bookcases. http://www.ikeahackers.net/2012/06/q...h-storage.html

ranbro 07-01-2012 04:02 AM

Gosh, if I only had the room.

Grinster 07-01-2012 06:02 AM

Wow you have a talented quilt table maker (?hubby). The table is awesome!

cdr1182 07-01-2012 06:11 AM

Love it and IKEA too! Saving it for my hubby.

Dianemarie 07-01-2012 06:13 AM

I have the bookcases on the wall. I think 3 sets however my DH and DS said they would fit. i absolutly love them. My own little shop ! I love Ikea ! If I didnt' already have a great drop leaf antique table I use I'd certainly consider that one !

cdroter 07-01-2012 07:07 AM

Wow! Thanks for sharing my dilemma. You saved me much head-scratching.

Neesie 07-01-2012 07:24 AM

Oh, I wish I had room, for something like that!!! Hmmmmm . . . I wonder if just one bookcase, covered with plywood, would be a good ironing board. Maybe . . . .

Crafty1 07-01-2012 07:43 AM

The table is awesome! Wish I had the space though, but I'll bookmark it just in case. Thanks!

alfosa421 07-01-2012 10:39 AM

OOOOOOOOOOOOhhh-that would take up so much less space than the mess I have-using 2 saw horses with batted plywood for ironing and old outdoor table for sewing (SIGH) Someday I'll have the quintessential sewing room-

ellifour 07-01-2012 10:42 AM

I've sent this to my DSIL who loves playing with wood.

Tartan 07-01-2012 11:34 AM

Wow, that's a beauty isn't it?

Roberta 07-01-2012 12:04 PM

I love it and it looks so much more sturdy then the table I use now from Joanns. The added storage space is a bonus. Thanks for sharing.

GloriaC 07-01-2012 02:44 PM

That is really nice!!

Rina 07-02-2012 02:51 AM

What a good idea. Thanks for sharing.

When I redid my kitchen, I used the old cabinets to do the same thing. Gave me closed storage & drawers!

butterflies5518 07-02-2012 08:17 AM

What a great idea - I passed on a sewing table counter height for a small desk due to the cost ($75 vs $3,000 - I don't have cheap taste unfortunately) - however, this would be perfect. Glad I waited.

nellie 07-02-2012 11:02 AM

wow i like the tables setup that,s a good idea

katesnanna 07-02-2012 04:00 PM

Thank you tesspug for posting this. It is exactly what I want for my new quilting room. Just hope that size will fit. I have bookmarked that site. Once again thank you.

caspharm 07-02-2012 05:45 PM

I wish I had seen that before we made mine.

burchquilts 07-03-2012 12:30 PM

I have 2 bookdcases with a hollow core door on the top of it for my cutting table. It is THE perfect height (for me anyway... I'm only 5', but...). I love it! My DH also tacked a yardstick along one long edge so I have that to measure with. It wasn't expensive to make & was all together in an afternoon (the bookshelves are just cheapies from WalMart so they had to be assembled).

Evelynquilts 07-04-2012 03:43 AM

Thanks for sharing....now, if I could only get my hubby to make one !!!

Ask him to go with you, to get the stuff. Then start working on it, yourself. It's like opening the hood of a car and looking at the engine. Men tend to just flock around, to play . . . uh, I mean help. :D
