Have you washed your rag/jelly roll rug? Did it curl up on you?

I use poly cord on my last fabric rug even though everyone said cotton was the thing to use. Cotton is not the end all of all ends. LOL It did not curl when I washed and dried it. I haven't made the jelly roll rug with the cotton batting yet. I'm sure the cotton batting will shrink some so it probably will curl. Using poly batting will probably eliminate all curling.

I have the pattern and have not made on yet. Thank You for the link about how to get it to lay flat.

I bought the pattern, but can no longer locate it. Have watched the tutorial so maybe I can do it and have it turn out nice and flat.

Onebyone, please give more information on the poly cord you used.

I had the idea of using the large quantity of polyester gingham I was given and some thin polyester batting and making one of these rigs. Polyester wears like iron, and would not be as heavy wet when I wash it, since my elderly washing machine does not like heavyweight items. I have also thought about cutting the polyester gingham on the bias since it won’t squish as readily as cotton for flattening it. I would love comments on if any of you see any pitfalls in my idea. Many heads make light work.

How about doing a test using about a yard long piece of straight cut gingham and poly batting. Then you can test the bias strip to see which one you think would do best. Make a mini coil of the straight cut one and add on the bias one to see how they work.
