Really nice video on hand applique - starch method

I really enjoyed this video on using the starch method for applique preparation. She uses YLI silk thread but referenced that Aurifil is prototyping a 80 weight thread.

Thank you so much for posting this link. I'm not very good at applique but after watching this video I might give it another try.

Yes, good tute...have to look for YLI silk thread...like that idea about knotting tail..that's the solution I've been wanting!

I think maybe I might pick up some silk thread as well. I just started practicing with stars (yikes!); I may never get that down right so thinking maybe the starch method is something to help me with that.

At this point, I don't care if the thread shows but when I get a little better, it would be nice for the thread not to show.

Enjoyed watching the video. Think I will get some of that thread and try it.

Wow - fantastic video! It is so well done, the taping is great, and the hints are, well, fantastic!! I have definitely saved this video to view over and over because there is so much information in it.

Thank you for posting it!

I tried bobbin thread yesterday, very thin, like 60 or 90 weight) but it is white and still shows too much. I might have to find the silk thread. Sometimes I get interested in different things and then it fades away, leaving me with supplies I may never use. That's why it takes me so long sometimes to get involved in new areas.
