Reducing bulk in a quilt top
I have been getting these emails too often from Martingale (That Patchwork Place) but I stopped and watched this video. It shows Jo Morton’s showing her tricks for reducing bulk in quilt block seams:

My guild "leader" showed us this little trick a good number of years ago and it works so well when you have bulky little intersections. Is there nothing new under the sun? No, just new folks who have not tried it before! Thanks for passing this helpful trick on to our new quilters and to the more seasoned quilters who may have forgotten this helpful little technique.

I saw that at Martingale too, now if I can only remember to do it when the time comes.

I've seen that done before but wonder how a quilt that gets a lot of use and washing would hold up. I think I'd rather just press all the seams open.

Thank you for the tip! Now if only I can remember it when I need it.

Thanks for posting this. I'll use this tip.

Neat trick. I have never done this to my quilt. I just press it as flat as I can. Thank you for this tip.

I just bought the Marti Michell corner trimmer. Lessening the dog ears will help as well. |
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try.
