Remove stubborn stains on quilts etc.
 

Just received an email from my LQS back in Alberta. She is promoting a product, Retro Clean, that is used to remove stubborn brown stains on quilts, etc.
I had not heard of this product, maybe you already know about it.

I have seen the booths at quilt shows but never investigated.

I can only find ads online. No reviews yet.

Also, while looking around the net, I saw people where suggesting rust removers. I'd be very wary of them. They may whiten whites but are damaging to colors. I had a light tan tshirt with rust stains and use a rust remover for clothing. It bleached out the color to a pinkish tan. Unfortunately it "was" my husbands tshirt.

I saw this being sold at the LQS, but don't know how it works.

I have been using "goop" stain remover. It can be found at Walmart. It will work on stubborn set in stains.

I have used this product on heirloom quilt tops. It's amazing! It works slowly, meaning you have to soak the article for a couple of days. I used an unused bathtub. But it's gentle, and just amazing for what it gets out. All the old yellowing, and set in stains I never thought would come out. And so gentle on the fabric. I did have to touch up one quilt top, and I used Efferdent denture cleaner. I couldn't find it in the powder I used to use, so I had to grind up tablets, but it still worked. Put it on the stain, scrub gently with an old, soft tooth brush. If it doesn't come out on the first try, feel free to give it a couple more tries (without rinsing the initial tries out). If it doesn't come out by the 3rd or 4th try, it's not coming out that way, but I've had great success with this, and it's gentle too. Then just rinse it out and try something else if necessary.
