This looks like it may be a better solution than a Klutz glove :D:D:D

It is a clear plastice guard that sticks onto the ruler

Wow, that's cool. I think I would like it better than the glove.

Quiltmaniac 01-07-2010 08:08 PM

I find the glove gets very warm, especially here in Florida (although they are forecasting snow for tomorrow :D :D

Quiltgranny 01-07-2010 08:53 PM

I use my guards on my 12, 18 and 24 inch rulers and LOVE them! I feel much safer now cutting, and yes they're much easier to use than the glove; more convenient, too. Oh, and the price for all three was much less than one glove.

I cut my finger twice and then my husband said I couldn't use the rotary until I got a guard. I only have it on my 6X24 ruler. All the others I am EXTREMELY careful.

Amma,

Seven stitches in my left index finger/ maybe it is time to try one of these.

Thank you,
Quilter68

OUCH!!!
I have never liked the gloves, I used to have to wear them at work. So when I saw this, I was excited :D:D:D

This is awesome, but wonder why the one is 22" instead of 24"?
I will go back later and look at all the different sizes.
I have long wanted a pair of the klutz glove but would much rather have this, esp. when my little ones start doing more with quilting
(of course they will be supervised and will be a few years before they even think about using a rotary!)
this is great! thank Amma! :-D

I really don't know why, but all three guards are each 2" shorter than the ruler they're meant to be used on. I haven't found that to be a problem for me, and I've used all three sizes. I really like them!

And the really neat thing about them, is you can cut-to-fit for a ruler that you may want a guard on.

Gee, I didn't know that. How do you do that? With what tool?

Thanks,

yourstrulyquilts 01-19-2010 08:49 AM

I used my DH hacksaw. I'm sure there are other kinds of saws that you could use, tho.

Thank you kindly. I'm guessing you maybe sanded the rough edges down?

yourstrulyquilts 01-19-2010 09:10 AM

I didn't notice any rough edges, but you could sand them with no problem. I have several smaller pieces that I cut off of a 22", just waiting for a ruler that it will fit.
AND, while we are on the subject of rulers guards; if yours should happen to come off (and they do occasionally, from being dropped, or the Kid gets hold of it, lol), You can use doubled sided Scotch tape to put it back on with. Just clean up the ruler and guard, take any gunk off, and put the tape on the guard and press onto the ruler. I've only had a couple in my life that I had to fix (I worked in a quilt shop so handled a lot of rulers). The double sided tape works every bit as good as the tape the guard comes with.
Happy Quilting Trails to you!

That's amazing!! I would not have thought the double sided tape would be that strong. How 'bout that?! Thanks so much for letting me know. Much appreciated.

I had to chuckle, as the quilt I'm working on at the moment is called "Happy Trails", lol.

Over the mountains near Woodland Park. Ring any bells for ya? Too hot down that a way for us. Love it here at 9200' - well, except for them darn bears and mountain lions. They just take all the fun out of a nice evening walk. Know what I mean?

yourstrulyquilts 01-19-2010 07:29 PM

Yeah it was hot there! But......no bears or lions. I liked it there a lot. You must get a ton of snow at 92oo'! What fun. Well, maybe fun, unless you're stuck in it.

Not as much snow as you might think. Oh, one year it didn't all melt til nearly May, but that was unusual. We're kind of in a funny spot here, and don't get as much as one might expect. The COLD we do get plenty of!

yourstrulyquilts 01-19-2010 07:39 PM

I guess I can say "Cool" to that one!

Oh, that was baaaaaadddddd!  It was near 20 BELOW just a few weeks ago! 8-)

yourstrulyquilts 01-19-2010 08:02 PM

I really don't think I could stand that kind of cold. It's hard on the knees, the elbows, the shoulder...............sounds like I'm getting old!! hehe

Um, tell me about it!! But, I do better up here with my MS, little heat and humidity. We just don't go out if we don't have to in the winter - we're both on oxygen, and that just doesn't play nice in anything below 20 above. Doc has me on a great med for the RA, I am doing pretty good - for once!

nativetexan 01-20-2010 12:30 PM

i have some of those on my rulers. of course i cut my thumb using teh other side of my 24 inch ruler! don't do that.

craftybear 04-24-2010 07:22 PM

thanks

craftybear 05-16-2010 11:01 PM
