I detest the auto shut off feature on the irons. That is what causes all the leaks. The water is cooled and heated with the steam on. The steam has to be off until the max temp is reached every time.

I have been using my Rowenta I bought in the 90's and have never had any problems with it. I know it is getting old so I bought a Maytag last week. I haven't used it yet so I am keeping my old Rowenta close by until I see haw well it works.

I have had 2 Rowenta irons--one made in Germany and the first one quit heating up and the 2nd leaked from almost the first. I used distilled water which was recommended--I also emptied after each use and it till leaked. I have a Reliable now and love it but I've heard good things about the cordless Panasonic Iron.

I've heard the Shark is good--with any iron it is best to empty after every use with steam.

Several years ago I bought a Rowenta iron and it got home and proceeded to leak. I tried convincing it not to leak but no go. So, I called the customer service line and was told the "made in China-it leaks; made in Germany-it doesn't leak" story. Confirmed the story with the customer service supervisor.

My personal take is that any company that has the gall to be that arrogant with customers does not need my money, support, or any of my future business. Oh, and they were so sorry.

Just out of curiosity I would be interested in seeing their marketing plan.

I love my Panasonic it's cordless and has a removable water tank when you don't want steam great for retreats

My Rowenta was great for about 6 years then it started smoking. I bought this iron and love it.

I usually have to buy a new Rowenta iron every year. They always start leaking or the thermostat gets too hot. I keep buying the Professional Rowenta because of the steam and the heat. I did a lot of heirloom sewing before I retired and needed a good iron. Mine stayed on a lot. I tried one with auto shut-off and did not like it. I wait till Joannes' has them on sale. I also made the mistake of sending one of my Rowentas to a repair shop in Austin, Tx. Six months later I received it with a new thermostat. It also had been dropped. There was a crack on the bottom that wasn't there when I sent it. It cost almost as much as a new iron.

I am on my 3rd one first one returned. Now this one is leaking,
Haven't even had it for a year,

I've had 3 Rowentas and they have all leaked.
