Cindy Needham's class (Design It, Quilt It) on Craftsy shows a similar method. I'd combine methods from both and use the skewers, instead of safety pins, but also tape skewers to the half way points on two edges of the table. If you just fold your backing, batting and top in quarters, this is sufficient. Really no need to press a crease at these points. Line the quartered fabric up with your skewers, lay on the table, unfold and gently spread out. I personally would use more than 6 binder clips and have used my husband's squeeze clamps instead of the large binder clips. It's what I had available and they work fine. They do stick out further, when clamped to the edge of the table, but I just work around them. Since I found out about this method, it's the only way I sandwich a quilt - no matter the size. My table is smaller than the one shown in the video and it still works fine. I just need to move the sandwiched layers and reclamp more often.

Great video. I had learned it in a quilting class I took a couple years' ago but forgot how to do it.

I am going to try this because it is getting harder and harder to get down on the floor and crawl around.
