There is a project could be made from scraps of fabric for wounded soldiers. Called "dump bags" or "Walter Reed bags". Link to pdf file to make them:
http://asgatlanta.org. You can go to Make Dump Bags for Injured Soldiers- It's a catch-all fabric bucket! | Pepsi Refresh Everything this site is to vote(you can vote once a day for this project) pepsi is giving money for a project $5000 I think. I hope the woman who came up with the idea gets the funding. They deliver the bags to Walter Reed hospital and her goal is that every wounded soldier gets a bag. I havent made one yet, I just found it, but it looks similar to scrap bags and they go quickly. Margie |
OOOOPS when you go to asgatlanta.org click on Walter Reed bags for the pdf file for instructions :)

IM SORRY I DON'T UNDERSTAND . WHAT DOES AN INJURED SOLDIER DO WITH A DUMP BAG. DO THEY MAKE THEM OR USE THEM AND IF THEY USE THEM WHAT DO THEY USE THEM FOR? SORRY I MIGHT HAVE MISSED SOMETHING
|
They are for wounded soldiers in the hospital. A solider named them "dump bags" ASG also calls them "Walter Reed bags". They are for them to have a place to put things like cell phone, magazine, glasses, book, or whatever they need to. They were modified from the pattern for a scrap bag that is attached to a pin cushion.

i could not find it on the Atlanta ASG page

maT, click on the first link, click on service projects, scroll to the bottom for a tutorial on how to make T.A.G. Bags. I think these are the ditty bags that would be tied to the side rails of the soldier's bag.
I like the thought of the traditional bedside caddy, but those would be more difficult to use with a hospital bad. Perhaps one of our wise ones could combine the two, a tie on bedside caddy/ditty bag. |
Oops, soldier's bed rails.

Thanks so much for the fast replies. I knew I could count on you for the information.
