When I was about 4 yrs. old in the 40's i got my middle finger stuck in the machine and the needle went all the way thru my finger.....my mom was outside feeding the chickens and i was in the house myself i think ....i was attempting to sew a hole shut in a sweater, no thread in the machine but just a kid trying to sew.....i was screaming and mom came flying in the house and had to rush me to the dr.....my earliest memory of wanting to sew.....later on in life i accidently caught the skin of my finger with a needle so now i'm a little more careful......

When I first got my sewing machine, my first one 30 years ago, I was sewing, and had my thumb in the way. The next thing I knew, it had sewn through my thumb making a stitch. I pulled out the thread, pulled out the needle, ran water on it. Doused it the triple antibiotic ointment and gauze. The next day I got a tetanus shot...lol,I'm accident prone. I guess that's as bad as the time I stepped on a size 5 knitting needle and it went through my foot.
