Sharon Schamber quilt washing
I just watched an interesting method for washing a quilt to remove markings. Perhaps someone can do a link it is on YouTube under the title….Sharon Schamber New Spray Washing Your Quilt. You could also probably find it by going to the SharonSchamber site. She uses a car washing wand NOT a power washer as that will destroy your quilt.

Interesting and fun way to wash quilts! Might be a little challenging for those of us that have numerous days with freezing temperatures.

I just wash mine in the washer! lol. I do use Orvus. I use Orvus for my dark colors too. Reduces fading.

Sharon Schamber is a perfectionist. That's why she wins every quilt show she enters. LOL She is amazing.

Wow. Never would have thought of washing a quilt like that. Sounds like a lot of work but better than putting it in the tub.

I joined her site years ago but never could see it again after I paid for it!!!

One thing I learned from her at a class is soak thread, poly or cotton in mineral oil, take it out and let sit on paper towels, wipe off, and use. It makes a world of difference. Good for the machine too. I do this with all new spools of thread. I keep a plastic covered container with mineral oil and roll the spools in it. it will not stain or harm fabric. No oil puddles or anything like that. She gave so many tips explained how the tips worked for machine and long arm. Everyone was taking notes and saying Wow.

Onebyone, your post was interesting but makes sense. How long do you soak threads? How long does it take to dry or do you just use it after the top little bit is dry?

I found this review of one of her classes from 2011 that gives a few of her tips. https://westmichquilter.blogspot.com...-schamber.html
