I love anything on sale, but pardon my ignorance - for what is this ruler used?

By the time we see it, it's off sale!! To me the folded corner makes the same thing as a half square triangle.

I bought a folded corner ruler, but it is too big and bulky to use with small pieces. I just use a small 6" ruler and use the 1/4 inch line.

It’s still on sale... $18 today.
