Singer Athena 2009 Sewing Machine

I just got the new Tuesday Morning flyer and they are selling a Singer Athena 2009 for $199.99. It's $399.99 on HSN and JoAnns website. I don't know anything about this machine, but may be worth looking at if you are in the market for a very reasonably priced machine.

I found it online at http://shop.tuesdaymorning.com/dsp_p...id=1&pid=13135

Maybe other who own it can comment for the benefit of those who are shopping.

Lots of threads here on newer singers and opinions on new Singers. Not many of them are that positive. I wouldn't purchase a new Singer. Only vintage Singers for me!

I bought this machine in May from Tuesday Morning & have enjoyed working on it so far. It was a BIG step up from my 35 year old White machine & has not given me any trouble since I've been working with it. I have been able to sew about 6 baby quilts on it & numerous small projects without any hitches. I also stitched a quickie quilt for my grandson using a patchwork fabric from JoAnne's with a fleece backing & didn't have any trouble going through all the layers. For the price, it's been a real blessing for me.

I, too, purchased the Singer Athena from Tuesday Morning and I need to know if anyone has posted a u-tube video on how to operate it! Thanks

I am a vintage gal myself, but hey the price is right!

I havent found a video on the new Athena but I can post a YouTube tut this week if you still need it. I purchased my Athena on HSN with a ton of extra feet and attachments for $299 and I LOVE it!!! I can't say enough good things about my Athena. Of course I upgrade from my moms Singer machine from the 80's so that could have something to do with it :). I quilt and make garments for my children. The only thing about this machine from a quilters perspective is that it doesn't have an automatic needle down, but my old Singer didn't have one either so it's not a big deal to me.

Let me know if you still need that YouTube vid.
