I can't wait to try this method. It seems so easy. I am sure I can find some left over 5 inch squares to give it a try.

I now understand too. I kept telling myself, but you cut it, when you sew it back together, you are taking up 1/4" off of both sides and that will make them off-square. Then I studied it some more and realized that the edges with their extra 1/4" were the edges that get sewn and the half square dark ones you cut are on the outside. But, it took a while to soak in.

This is the "Straight to the Point" technique at http://quiltwoman.com/Straight-to-Th...-Patterns.aspx Their patterns note that if you're a stickler for not having points cut off, this method is not for you. I don't have a problem with this -- I seem to do it unintentionally! :)

I like one point quilts, especially zig zag set ones.

I have been using this method making 10.5" squares for charity quilts. I had so many quality scraps in the beginning I spent way to much time choosing the colors at the end I just looked for sized needed. I must say I was surprised ..how pretty the quilts turned out. I ended up with 6 good size quilts. It's a super easy method. Your quilt is beautiful.

Wow this is a very smart way of doing it. I hope I will remember how to do it when I want to put a small quilt on point.
