Sticker Shock!
I went to JoAnns yesterday and boy did I get a shock! The new fabrics they have coming in are priced $12.99 to $14.99 for the quilters quality cotton. Yes they do run sales and coupons but when they have a good coupon (50% or 60%) they already have the fabric on sale and you can't use the coupon. At these prices they are more expensive than the LQS - which is a boost for them. Guess I will be more careful of getting rid of fabric.

I am in agreement. I shop the sales online at quality quilt stores. What really upsets me is when you shop online at JAF, they up their minimum fabric cut from 1 yard to 3 yards during their sale on quilting fabric. That turned me off.

The coupon offerings are difficult to navigate. I just steer clear.

I haven't set foot in a JoAnns in years. I find the whole coupon thing deceitful, they way overprice regular priced goods for the coupons and then do meager % off sales so even if you have a 60% off coupon you can't use it.
I am with Maniac, I buy sales on line. I just got some fabulous batiks from Hancocks of Paducah for $4.99 per yard plus an additional 20% off for their Mother's day sale so they netted at $3.99. Even with shipping that is a far cry better bargain then JoAnns with a 60% off coupon. |
I am in agreement too. I was in JoAnn's yesterday and couldn't believe the price of nice fabric. Also, when they put out coupons, they put the fabric on sale and you can't use the coupons. Very discouraging to shop there and would just go to the lqs and get what I need for the same price. I think JoAnn's is pricing themselves right out of business.

I recently bought some of their buttercream fabric. Really nice quality, and yes expensive for JAF. I did use a 50% off coupon so it was still less that what I would have paid at a LQS. I would buy the brand again. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with this store, but I was pleasantly surprised by this new fabric line.

closing due to excessive JAF bashing
