I was looking for something and logged onto Erica's quilt shop, South Bend, Ind. After 44 yrs they have closed. Been there a couple of times, it was a nice place.

A great LQS in my area is closing after 30 years. The owner cannot find a buyer or anyone to take it over. She is ready to retire. This has happened to another LQS here too. No one to buy. Time changes things and we adapt.

My friends and I miss Erica’s. We went there several times a year...a great day road trip. I hope they are enjoying their retirement. Mrs. Erica still does classes from time to time or so I heard.

I heard that Erica's closed because of cancer. Erica's was one of 5 quilting shops that have closed in the last few years, here in Indiana. Let's see if I can name them.

4. Janette's in Wakarusa. Automobile accident and retirement.

Someone else help me here.

We have only 1 fabric shop in my area now. All the rest are gone, and I won't buy at JA's. When I had to have one piece to complete a project, I was shocked at the sleazy feel of the fabric. I will have to travel further to find a good shop, I guess.

I have to drive an hour to get to a good quilt store that has a large variety to choose from (drool over - LOL). I have NO joanne's close to me. There is a Hobby Lobby but that is it. Makes me sad. But then one has to drive forever in Texas to get anywhere.

I guess quilt making in our area is alive and well since our local LQS has moved to bigger “digs” twice in the last ten years. Each place was double the size of the last place. I am blessed again for choosing this small town to buy my home in.

We used to have a lot in the area (we were considered the hot bed of quilting, partly because Martingale f/k/a That Patchwork Place, was in the area and Clothworks f/k/a Fabric Sales was situated in south Seattle. I do not know if there are any LQS in the city of Seattle and there are a few in Snohomish County where I live, several in Skagit County and at least 3 in Whatcom County. On in whatcom County became an online store, another closed for retirement. There is a lovely shop in Smokey Point, Aunt Mary's. Lots of batiks and also a large selection of wool and patterns for woolen quilts, etc.

You must be in Lebanon! Love that store. I live just down the road from a quilt shop, it will probably close in 2020 due to retirement. I have 4 I can go to in about 30 minutes or less.

I have been to the Philomath quilt shop that was right along the Main Street (or Hwy 20?) can’t remember for sure, but I loved her little shop. Very homey.
