Funny you posted this , I spent the weekend making string potholders in an effort to reduce my scrap piles.

I've finished my Spiderweb top, I am working on a string pieced lap top and now I see some string pieced pot holders in my future. My scrap bin isn't getting much smaller.:D

I like to put the batting on to begin with and then sandwich the back right sides together and then turn after sewing. Then I don't need To bind it. I just need to diagonal stitching as well as top stitch around edges. Saves a lot of time as I don't like to do small binding. Just my way of doing it.

I make these a lot, so thanks for the reminder......I had kind of forgotten about how great they really are for a small hostess gift......:)

Tartan......strings just grow and grow and grow....LOL! Old strings never die, they just multiply!

This was a good idea. I am in need of potholders, the ones I made years ago are so worn. Just recently, I made the remark that if I knew someone that sewed, I would have new ones. LOL It seems those just were not on my "to do" list. I think I had better add them.

We made something similar in my guild, QAYG. Begin with 2 triangles, each half of your planned square (plus seam allowances. On goes on the front, the other on the opposite side of the back. Add strips from center to corner on one side, flip, add them to the other side. bind. We made our for 2 different seasons.
