Super new gizmo - SeamFix!!!

I picked one up at the LQS while in New Orleans. Awesome!

It looks like the stirry thing in a honey pot on one end, a little nipply thing on other end and it holds a seam ripper inside.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:Period.

It's like magic! The most dreadful part of seam ripping - for me - is now a thing of the past.

Kath12 07-29-2013 04:08 AM

I so want one of those

judi wess 07-29-2013 04:42 AM

Now why didn't I think of that? Must get one of those.

Looks like a great little tool. But to bad about the ripper point breaking off when you take it out of the cap. Wonder if the company will replace free of charge since it is a default in the cap part? HUMMMMMMMMMm but I still am going to get one. Thanks for the link as these were new to me.

I use an eraser to remove my threads, you know the pink one for school kids.

sewnsewer2 07-29-2013 05:48 AM

I have one that a friend gave me and I love it!

littlebitoheaven 07-29-2013 07:55 AM

I bought one of these and love it but realized it is the same as a pencil eraser. I was at the Dollar General store and saw a huge eraser. It is about 2" by 4". I bought one and it works beautifully.

I am making a Hidden Wells quilt. I put it away way too long. When I sewed the last 4 strip panels, I used a different 1/4" foot (both made for my Brothers' machine) and the second foot made a larger seam. Didn't realize it until I sewed all 4 pieces (9 strips each). I had to rip all of the seams in order to start over. I pressed the strips to get them back to a straight strip (they had stretched when ripped). I went over all seams with the eraser and it was amazing done pressed and ready to resew. PS: The eraser was $1.00.

That's exactly what I was thinking. But then I never cut thread by stretch the fabric between cuts.

Already got this - 3 for like 10 at Nancy's notions on sale quite a while ago. Work just the way they are described. Only problem I have is with the top, you lay it down and poof, it goes under something and I can't find it and spend too much time looking for it. Wish it would fit on the other end while using the ripper.

After I bought mine I tried putting the eraser end on the ripper end and was disappointed that it didn't fit. Maybe they don't want us poking ourselves with the ripper while using the rubber end. Someone told me she used tape to put hers on. "Only problem I have is with the top, you lay it down and poof, it goes under something and I can't find it and spend too much time looking for it. I bought several from Walmart. They pull the threads like magic.

KyKaren1949 07-29-2013 01:36 PM

Heck, I had to pay $6 at my Wal-Mart for two of them. I love them though! Just the right size to be comfortable while ripping and I love the end to remove the thread whiskers!!

Looks really good. The person did say they have redesigned the inside cap so it shouldn't break the tip any more. But a pencil eraser sounnds like a good alternative for now. Will try that!

I love mine

milikaa1 07-29-2013 09:43 PM

My neighbor got one, she was going to get one for me but I said "no", now that I see it in action, I WANT ONE :), that is cool!

I agree with this! Mine keeps rolling away and I can't find it when I need it. Also, I like the cheap one I got with my little Brother machine better. The cutting end is thinner and easier to get under the threads to cut them.

MothrNatr 07-30-2013 07:14 PM

Now I am gonna look for a pencil top eraser for my seam ripper - it will likely keep it from rolling off the table :)

Mimmis57 09-01-2013 04:43 PM

Have you tried it yet? Not that I need another gadget!

yel 09-01-2013 05:07 PM

we use them at work .....walmart very cheap

Mimmis57 09-02-2013 04:22 AM

How well does that work?

I also use this eraser to clean my cutting mat. Works like a charm.
