what dose mdf stand for?

I'm not really sure how to discribe it. It comes in sheets like plywood but is much heavier and is made with glue. A good example is kitchen countertops, that have laminate on top. They are made from MDF. My DH said MDF stands for Multiple Density Fiberboard. HTH!

Mdf Stands for Medium Denisty Fiber Board, so they say on HGTV
