About 6 years ago,I asked my husband to make me one of these thread holders to put into a drawer of a table that belonged to my mom.It really has been a blessing to have and the threads are all so easy to get to and out of sight.

My husband made me one of these a few years ago. I love it. It helps keep it all neat.

These are great ideas but, I've always wondered.... if your house is anything like mine, especially with four cats, won't the thread get dusty and eventually dry out or fade?

I use a stack of plastic thread containers from Joann's to hold all my thread. They each contain a type of thread or different thread manufacturer, for example, Coats & Clark, Mettler, variegated, etc.

Or, is it that you use your thread so fast it doesn't have a chance to dry out or get dusty?

And to think I just found a pegboard with hangers for $1 at a Garage sale 2 weeks ago. I don't have near that much thread (not from lack of trying) but it is big enough that I can use it for a dual purpose. Thread storage and tool storage. :-D
Now to get hubby to help me put it up. LOL!

To double the rack you have now storage, slip a plastic drinking straw over the peg. Put two spools of thread on one peg. Cut the straw to the length you need. I do this to hold bobbins with matching thread with the spool.

I drape thin fabric over my hanging thread racks to keep dust and light off.
