My D/D reminded me when Mom was alive we would go to a store called two dollar a yard fabric store. It no longer is in business near me ,but they have a store in the San Francisco area stiill. I found if you search (two dollar fabric store) and (two dollar a yard fabric store) that they are in quite a few states. I will warn you they do not sell on line, so be prepared to go to a store near you. They used to sell 100% cotton and pillow panels and such when we went to ours, also muslin. I do not drive far these days, so I will have to wait to see what San Fran has to offer when hubby does family reunion Xmas party in Dec. Give them a google and see if there is one near you. You might find a real bargain!!

Does she have VIDEO of it? Maybe she can put it on YOUTUBE and you can become an overnight celebrity! LOL

twistedsheets 09-28-2010 04:21 AM

Fortunately no. Tho I am sure there are a few stores that did at the time. I quit drinking WELL over 10 yrs ago. Now she tells me she misses that I don't care , too bad am I embarassing you to be seen with me attitude I had back then.I could get kind of freaky when I drank a beer. Mixed drinks I was fine. A beer I turned into a freak I guess, and capable of some strange things to make people think I was pretty insane I guess!

LOL, isn't funny how the kids always remember the stuff you wish they would forget? I remember those $2.00 stores, thanks for the reminder.

In Auburn, Massachusetts there is a new "The $1.99 Fabric Store" and every time I go there, they have more and more. They now have patterns, notions, trims and all kinds of fabric. I feel like I died and went to heaven. They are on Facebook with lots of pictures. Anyone within driving distance should plan on a day trip. It is well worth the drive. Luckily, I only have to drive about 15 min.

Forgot about the Ben Franklin craft stores. When I was back there they also had fabrics . Don't know if they still do. And Woolworth dime stores if any are left had precut fabs , 2 and 3 yards like 1.99 a yard worth checking into .

What about ALCO stores? Mine stopped carrying fabric. Anyone else still have fabric in theirs?

vjengels 09-29-2010 04:52 AM

There used to be one of those stores in Vegas in the late 80's and early 90's I still have some fabric from there I've yet to use.

Penski, how did you do at the store? Did it have anything good? Was there a selection of fabrics, or was what they had overpriced!

penski 09-29-2010 09:14 PM

i thought for that store they were over priced on some things, maybe my expectations were higher!!!

i went to the site but was i reading the price wrong? it was 1.94 for a 1/2 yard and it was 22 in wide?

twistedsheets 09-30-2010 01:28 AM

Sorry. Had read some where else some one went to an actual store and had found full yards of material and said they were quite affordable and a good selection. I will be moving back to Il and Wis area m thought maybe you would give me heads up if the actual stores did have. My daughter is not a walmart fan she does Target , so I don't know if her local stores have fab. Walmart still has here around me.

twistedsheets 09-30-2010 01:14 PM

She lives in Kenosha county area, so be the Great lakes Naval Base area. So I am looking into Lake county and Kenosha County. I actually went to Libertville High School my last years.

CarrieAnne 09-30-2010 01:39 PM

I grew up a few blocks from a Ben Franklin store. As a kid I always spent my allowance there!
Sadly our nearest cities store closed, but there is still one in Delavan Wis. Its a nice store, prices about the same as Hobby Lobby, but they do have some 30's fabrics, ect.

twistedsheets 09-30-2010 05:37 PM

Always wanted to go to Hobby Lobby! Forgot the opened those stores. Never got a chance to stop when I was driving truck. But I think hubby would have tied me up after cramming the truck full of stuff when Kmart was selling off cheap, and closing there stores. I was into crotcheting . And I bought out all the 13" dolls (i beleive) will no for sure what size when I clean out my storage. It was a store in Winslow Arizona. He asked me where are we going to sleep on the truck. I told him he would figure it out. He did. Took him a while to fill every nook and cranny, but we could get to the bed!I gave some away , but I should still have atleast 100 of those still squirreled away in storage. The crazy things we do!!!!

twistedsheets 09-30-2010 05:41 PM

I am no longer driving , but he keeps saying he wants me on the truck when I get all things settled and taken care of, and moved! He has a good memory. But he must have forgotten, my impulse buying! I won't remind him!!

Thanks for sharing. I used to love the $2.00 dollar fabric store. Still have stash from there.
