'unorderliness' in quilting - strip piecing

Something in me has trouble with quilts that do not have some order to them, so I was very pleased to happen across this site

I like backgrounds that are all different fabrics, but I knew the 'unorderliness' of making one might even make me so anxious it would take a lot of the joy out of quilting. I think having a place that has rules to follow, to get the same look, will be very helpful to me, maybe there's someone out there who could benefit too.

Good way to do trip around the world too. Is it EB who has that in her book? Not sure who.....

I have a hard time making a totally scrap quilt where you just sew whatever fabric together. I don't understand why since I am not an organized person at all. I made one of the mystery quilts on the board. I forced myself to do it totally scrappy. Sew fabrics together that almost made me cringe. In the end it was beautiful. I think it has helped me be able to do more of it. I totally understand what you mean.

I need to do this. Just sews strips of fabric together then puts them away for future use.

Seems the same as Bonnie Hunter's method. It works great.

Someone gave me a box of feedsack scraps, it took me forever to learn to just pick out a piece and sew it to another piece.. finally got myself to start thinking outside the box as the saying goes..so I think I know how you feel.
