'unorderliness' in quilting - strip piecing
Something in me has trouble with quilts that do not have some order to them, so I was very pleased to happen across this site
http://bloomandblossom.blogspot.com/...ing-trick.html I like backgrounds that are all different fabrics, but I knew the 'unorderliness' of making one might even make me so anxious it would take a lot of the joy out of quilting. I think having a place that has rules to follow, to get the same look, will be very helpful to me, maybe there's someone out there who could benefit too. |
thanks for the link... needed that reminder!

Good way to do trip around the world too. Is it EB who has that in her book? Not sure who.....

I have a hard time making a totally scrap quilt where you just sew whatever fabric together. I don't understand why since I am not an organized person at all. I made one of the mystery quilts on the board. I forced myself to do it totally scrappy. Sew fabrics together that almost made me cringe. In the end it was beautiful. I think it has helped me be able to do more of it. I totally understand what you mean.

I need to do this. Just sews strips of fabric together then puts them away for future use.

Someone gave me a box of feedsack scraps, it took me forever to learn to just pick out a piece and sew it to another piece.. finally got myself to start thinking outside the box as the saying goes..so I think I know how you feel.
