Why a thread stand is useful.

very helpful and interesting, thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing this video. I learned something I needed to know. Goes to show me how much I still need to learn. Tons!!

Interesting!

Informative and enjoyable! thanks for posting.

Thanks for the link !

That's interesting. I was expecting something that holds all spools vertically. I use an old dritz thread stand with my embroidery machine-the regular spool pin doesn't seem to to work well for the threads I use. I wonder if a stand like this would be better? I had to modify mine quite a bit to get it to work right.

Thanks for the link. I never thought about the extra twisting of the thread if pulling from the spool or cone in a way it wasn't meant to be pulled from. That ribbon demonstrates it beautifully. Definitely something to think about. I'll remember this!

I have this stand and recommend it over any stand I have used.

Good info.

Interesting - didn't know there was a holder out there that did regular thread spools and bobbins.

Thanks for the link....

Just ordered one from Shoppers Rule today. Only $12.23 compared to $15.99 on most sites, even Superior.
|
I wonder how the one from Shopper's Rule works compared to the Superior one. It looks like it doesn't have the horizontal pin but you have to put the entire thing horizontal.

The one at Shoppers Rule doesn't have a pin to hold a spool horizontally. It says you have to put the whole unit horizontal. That would change the thread path a little on those types of spools.

Looking again at the video, the absence of the horizontal pin makes a big difference. On the Shoppers Rule holder, the thread would still come off the end of the spool rather than the middle. Unless the photo they show is incorrect because that's how it looks. It does look like if the guide wire swivels down it could work the way the Superior one does.

That is a versatile tool. Good information about thread winding. Superior thread is great stuff. TFS.

Well, I followed some conversations on here about thread and which end goes which way, but never "got it." Thanks for a clear, concise video that helped me "get it." Now to do something with this information....:-)

The pin is removable to put either horizontal or vertical.

Do you mean on the Shopper's Rule version? If so they should really say that in the description. I couldn't find it in there.

Shoppersrule doesn't always understand the products or how they are used. I have found great buys from them and the description is usually lacking of all the benefits of the product. They just hit the high points. I am pretty sure this is the same product because it use to come in black or white.
