This is an older post on Moda Bake Shop, but I wanted to share the link to this pattern as my son and I were looking for an easy pattern that used one layer cake. (There is an option to use more fabric too, but we stuck with the one layer cake). We made him a quilt top using ONLY the layer cake and there was *maybe*1-2 inches of waste from the whole thing. I love the "boxed" in look. This pattern is pretty easy, even my 7 year old worked on it! Hope you enjoy. :)

I LOVE layer cakes. Check out greenfairyquilts.com. I think that is what it is called, they have all precuts and some great prices. They ship fast too.

This quilt was the first time I had worked with a layer cake. I really liked it because it gave me the chance to work with the whole line of fabrics without investing too much money! I have another one on my shelf that I am waiting for the perfect pattern to use on. :)
