Babylock Esante Embroidery and sewing machine
 

I have a chance to buy a Babylock Esante embroidery sewing machine. I'm told its about 8-10 years old. A lady contacted our guild as her mother passed away and she and her sisters do not sew. She is asking $250. What do I need to look for? I don't have any type of embroidery machine so I am not looking for anything too complicated to start learning with. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Esante & I love it! $250 is a great price for it....grab it! It retailed for $3500! Just make sure you have all the hoops, feet, etc. Babylock's machines are probably the most user friendly machines around. Great support too.

I love Babylock and have just purchased the Aria. My first machine was the Esante ESI that came with the embroidery attachment and had a slot in the side for new patterns, etc. I forget what that's called. Anyway, I purchased it about 15 years ago and it was the best machine ever. I loved it until the screen started to fade, about 4 years ago. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it (I had been taking it in every year for servicing). Anyway he said it was the motherboard that was dying and that to replace it would cost about $300 for the part and another $300 for the labor. The only problem was that my model was phased out and the part was no longer available. So I used a flashlight to shine on the screen just so I could see enough to use it for straight stitching. Well, I still have the machine but have not been able to sew with it any longer. I have the attachments and the discs etc. Since I paid that big price to begin with I just don't have the heart to dump it. $250 is a great price if it still has lots of stitches left in it. I understand there is a way to tell exactly how much life is left in a computerized machine and if anyone out there has any thoughts or ideas for me, I would appreciate them. So, Sharon it might be worth taking that leap of faith or it might not. Sorry if I'm making your decision more difficult.

I have this same machine and if I got this offer, I would grab it quick quick. It is a great machine, wonderful and I love mine.Easy to sew and embroidery. The brand new Babylock is about $15,000, so mine is still awesome.Good luck

That is a really good price. I bought one for $600 4 years ago and it was 8 years old then. There were 25 embroidery pattern cards, extra frames, and much more miscellaneous items. You might ask about cards and any other items they might have that can be used with that machine. Good luck and enjoy.

I have had this machine for 22 years and it was used when I bought it. Recently I broke the needle bar block and replacements are no longer available. Of anyone would like to sell a non- working machine or remove that part and sell it to me I would be ever so grateful. Iam located in Iowa. Carolyn Gustin

I just purchased an Esante ESi-2 at a thrift shop for $18.00. It's missing the embroidery attachment and hoops, but all of the sewing attachments where in the accessory tray. The LCD screen still lights up and it sews the built in patterns perfectly.
